Storybookers is live online and on facebook. A part of the business is creating films for families who want to document their family histories and stories. We were recently in Northumberland with the Wilson family. Here is a stunning illustration by Alex Green of a typical shoot - spot me in the background, 5D in hand.
Been directing promos for T-Mobile’s new creative project with Spine TV, more info soon to come. Filming took us part by helicopter to the Cannes Film Festival. Here’s us landing and a few pics from the festival - magic.

Spent a day shooting a promo for Shake It Off by Pusherman, the brilliant UVA concept was thought up and directed by Frazer with O’Malls as his genius art director.
Pirates and Diamonds is now officially on its feet! Our first rehearsal was a success; we surprised ourselves with the solutions we found. Zoë led a movement session with four talented performers: Dan Hernandez, Jan Lee, Jess Jones, and Simon Maeder. Together with the Cabinet of Curious Creatures, we have found movement solutions for design questions we had regarding the ship. The guided improvisation opened up the question how a ship and water interact. Much of what we thought we needed to build as a set, we have decided to find in the performers positions, shapes and movements. We have decided to use the performers to build the pirate ship, create the water, destroy the ship and wash it out to see. You can see brief glimmers of this idea in the short rehearsal video we have put together:
With my background in set design I have decided to design this film. With Zoë, the movement director, we now have to decide the details of where the performers will be and what parts of the set they will be holding. Through detailed story boarding we will decide, how they will reveal the water, and then destroy the ship. This will need to be drawn in a step by step movement story board, and then the building can begin.

A promo I directed, shot and edited for Spine TV - it was the intro film to CDR’s knowledge session at the end of last year.
Here is a short I directed inspired by ‘Yellow’ - one of many beautiful songs by Charly and The Colours. It’s a quick look at two people very much in love.
Here’s a couple of virals I shot and directed with O’Malls at U-Dox. We tried to film the city at night but time and time again London’s security lot weren’t best pleased.

I spent last weekend in Northumberland at shooting Storybooker’s first Family Portrait. The Wilson family welcomed us into their beautiful house and told story after story of a family tree that holds a lot of history. It was a fascinating experience and for the first time in my life I fell in love with horses.

I was commissioned to shoot and edit a film documenting the week long War Horse Music School at the NT Studios. This school was aimed at singer/musicians seeking a future in the performing arts and offered an immersion into folk history and culture with a specific reference to the music from the stage production. Here you see the whole class with tutors John Tams, John Kirkpatrick, Chris Parkinson and Nancy Kerr.
